Núcleo definitivo da ocupação portuguesa no século XVIII, edificado no mesmo espaço onde os holandeses permaneceram durante 25 anos no século XVII. O traçado urbano da Vila obedece ao desenho de dois pátios: no espaço superior, o poder civil e no inferior, defronte da igreja, o poder religioso, ambos associados à Horta da Vila. Todas as edificações davam suporte ao sistema carcerário implantado naquele tempo: armazém de produtos agrícolas, mercearia para depósito e distribuição de mercadorias, residências dos guardas e dirigentes da Colônia Correcional, dentre outros.

The definitive core of the Portuguese occupation in the eighteenth century, built in the same space where the Dutch remained for 25 years in the 17th century. The urban layout of the village obeys the design of two courtyards: in the upper space, the civil power and the lower, in front of the church, the religious power, both associated with the Horta da Vila. All buildings supported the prison system implemented at that time: agricultural products warehouse, grocery store for storage and distribution of goods, residences of guards and correctional officers, among others.
