TRAILS
Some of the trails lead to the beauties of the Fernando de
Noronha Archipelago. Check here what each one offers to you.
The trails in the National Marine Reserve of Fernando de
Noronha - Parnamar / FN can only be visited with an authorization
of IBAMA and with accredited guides. On the other side, the
trails inside the Environment Preservation Area of Fernando
de Noronha provide free access.

Sancho Bay
Along this trail there are two rocks to be climbed, which isolate
the Porcos Bay. The pain to reach the Sancho Bay, which is situated
by the side, is compensated as the beach is one of the best for
diving. At the end of this tour there is the great challenge
of this trail. For reaching the belvedere It's necessary to climb
the stairs carved in the split of a 40 meters cliff. Beginning
at the Cacimba do Padre Beach, end at the Sancho Bay.
Farol Trail
This 2,5 km long trail requires stops for pure contemplation.
There are along it a sequence of dazzling belvederes which show
almost untouched landscapes.
Capim-Açu Point
On this trail you reach one of the ends of the island, where
you will find ruins of equipment built during World War II. You
walk over steep declivities up to reach the Capim-Açu
Point. From here on you descend in direction to the Leão
Beach. This beach is only open between August and February. Beginning
and end of the Leão Beach.
Pedra Alta Little Point
The route of this trail is a kind of trip back in the time. You
can see the "dry stones", historic place of the first
shipwreck in Brazil, ocurred in 1503, and the "Capitão
Kid" cave, which originated one of the folk tales in the
island. Beginning at the Caeira Creek and end at the Trinta Village.
Dolphin Bay
The Dolphin Bay is a real sanctuary, a big natural aquarium where
bathing, fishing and diving are strictly forbidden. Despite of
these restrictions, the tour is worth. This trail leads to a
70 meters cliff from where you can appreciate the rotifer dolphins
looking for the place for coupling, for feeding the younglets
or even for resting. Beginning and end at Quixaba.
Jardim Elizabeth
The name Jardim Elizabeth is a dutch heritage. Maps of that time
mark the place as have been chosen for acclimatization of plants
brought from Europe for food production. With an extension of
1,600 meters, the trail crosses the wood, passes alongside a "cajazeira" alley
and crosses an 18th. century bridge over the dry bed of the Mulungu
Brook. The tour takes about 1 hour and ends at the Cachorro Beach,
where besides diving, It's possible to to take a fountain bath.
Costa Azul
The Costa Azul Trail has an extension of 2,300 meters and can
be covered in about two hours walking. Its starting point is
the Remédios Village, where the female prison from the
18th. century is situated. But the trail discloses really in
the Pico Street, where in some passages natural belvederes in
direction to the Cachorro and Meio Beaches are formed. The trail
ends at the Conceição Beach, where the Pico Mount,
which can be seen from all island points, is situated. Turning
round the mount among the rocks you reach to the Sta. Cruz Fort
ruins.
Esmeralda Coast
The Esmeralda Coast Trail can also be covered in two hours walking,
has an extension of 2,200 meters and passes through three beaches:
Bode, Quixaba and Cacimba do Padre Beach. Going along this trail
you can observe the "catraias" - marine fowl of the
pelican family- diving for food.
Along this trail, which is the most coastal, you can see the
wood which surrounds the beach. At its end, inside the sea, you
see two big rocks called Dois Irmãos.
